How to Add Images to Labels

Adding images to your labels can make them more professional and visually appealing. Whether it's your company logo, product photos, or decorative graphics, Label Maker supports images in your label designs.

Types of Images You Can Add

  • Company logos - Brand your return address labels
  • Product photos - For product labels and packaging
  • Icons and symbols - Warning signs, certifications, QR codes
  • Decorative graphics - Holiday themes, borders, backgrounds
  • Photos - Personal photos for gift labels or invitations

Step 1: Insert an Image

After selecting your label template in Label Maker:

  1. Click inside a label cell where you want the image
  2. Go to InsertImage
  3. Choose your image source:
    • Upload from computer - Select a file from your device
    • Search the web - Find images via Google search
    • Drive - Select from your Google Drive
    • Photos - Select from Google Photos
    • By URL - Paste an image URL
  4. Select or upload your image

Step 2: Resize the Image

Images often need to be resized to fit within label boundaries:

  1. Click on the image to select it
  2. Drag the corner handles to resize (hold Shift to maintain proportions)
  3. For precise sizing, click on the image and select Image options
  4. Enter specific width and height values

Tip: For address labels, keep logos small (about 0.5" to 0.75" wide) to leave room for the address text.

Step 3: Position the Image

Control how text wraps around your image:

  1. Click on the image
  2. Click the Image options button (or right-click → Image options)
  3. Choose a text wrapping style:
    • Inline - Image behaves like a character in the text
    • Wrap text - Text flows around the image
    • Break text - Text appears above and below only

Common Layouts

  • Logo above address - Insert image first, then press Enter and type address below
  • Logo left of address - Use "Wrap text" and position image to the left
  • Centered logo - Use inline positioning with center-aligned paragraph

Using Images in Mail Merge

When using mail merge, the same image will appear on every label. To use the image:

  1. Design your label with the image in the first cell
  2. Add your merge fields around the image
  3. When you click "Create Labels," the image will be duplicated to all labels along with the merged data

Note: Currently, Label Maker doesn't support different images per label from a spreadsheet column. All labels will use the same image you placed in your template.

Image Quality Tips

Resolution

  • Use images at least 300 DPI for crisp printing
  • Avoid enlarging small images—they'll appear pixelated
  • PNG or high-quality JPG formats work best

File Size

  • Large images slow down document loading
  • Resize images before uploading when possible
  • Keep file sizes under 2MB for best performance

Transparency

  • PNG format supports transparent backgrounds
  • Use transparent logos to blend with label background
  • JPG files always have a solid background
