Label Maker includes envelope templates that let you print addresses directly on envelopes. This eliminates the need for separate address labels and gives your mail a professional, clean look.
Supported Envelope Sizes
Label Maker supports common envelope sizes:
- #10 Business Envelope - 4.125" x 9.5" (standard business envelope)

Step 1: Select an Envelope Template
- Open Label Maker: Extensions → Label Maker → Create Labels
- In the Template dropdown, search for "envelope"
- Select your envelope size (e.g., "#10 Envelope")
Tip: Measure your envelope if you're unsure of the size. Search by dimensions in Label Maker (e.g., "4x9").
Step 2: Add Your Addresses
The envelope template has two address areas:
Return Address (Top Left)
Click in the return address area and type your return address:
Your Name
Your Company (optional)
123 Your Street
City, State ZIP
Recipient Address (Center)
Click in the recipient address area and add the delivery address:
Recipient Name
Company Name (if applicable)
456 Their Street
City, State ZIP
Mail Merge for Multiple Envelopes
To print many envelopes at once:
- Connect your Google Sheets mailing list (see mail merge tutorial)
- In the recipient address area, insert merge fields:
<<Name>> <<Address>> <<City>>, <<State>> <<ZIP>> - Type your return address (same on all envelopes)
- Click Create Labels
Label Maker will generate one envelope per row in your spreadsheet.
Step 3: Set Up Your Printer
Envelope printing requires specific printer settings:
Load the Envelope
- Check your printer manual for envelope loading instructions
- Most printers have an envelope slot or manual feed tray
- Load envelopes face-up or face-down depending on your printer
- The flap is usually on the left or at the back
Print Settings
- Go to File → Print
- In More settings:
- Set Paper size to match your envelope (e.g., "#10 Envelope")
- Set Margins to None
- Set Scale to 100%
- Some printers require selecting "Envelope" as the paper type
Important: Always do a test print on plain paper first. Hold it against your envelope to check address placement before printing on actual envelopes.
Step 4: Test Print
- Print on regular letter-size paper first
- Hold the paper against an envelope to check positioning
- Addresses should fall in the correct positions
- Adjust text positioning in your document if needed
- Once aligned, print on your actual envelopes
Troubleshooting
Address prints in wrong position
- Check that you selected the correct envelope size in print settings
- Verify margins are set to "None"
- Make sure scale is 100%, not "Fit to page"
- Your printer may need manual adjustment for envelope positioning
Envelope jams in printer
- Use the manual feed slot if available
- Feed one envelope at a time
- Make sure the envelope flap is positioned correctly
- Don't use envelopes that are too thick or textured
- Avoid envelopes with metal clasps in laser printers
Ink smears on envelope
- Use envelopes designed for your printer type (inkjet vs laser)
- Let printed envelopes dry before stacking
- Reduce ink density in printer settings if available
- Try a different envelope brand
Envelope size not in print settings
- Create a custom paper size in your printer settings
- Enter the exact envelope dimensions
- Save as a custom paper size for future use
Pro Tips
- Buy quality envelopes - Cheap envelopes may jam or produce poor print quality
- Store envelopes flat - Warped envelopes cause feeding problems
- Match fonts - Use the same font for return and recipient addresses for a cohesive look
- Add a logo - Include your company logo with the return address for branded correspondence
